Unity is the ability to stand as one united front against any foreign, invasive way of thought or life. It is the thought process that has formed nations and countries, it is also the thought process that has been the root of defense for these same nations and countries against foreign nations, countries and ways of thought. In short it is a building block of all cultures. The American born descendants of Africa have displayed the capacity for unity at times but, as a whole show a lack of on the daily front. This article is about the three major threats to the unity of Blacks: Historical Replication, the American Government, and the Black Mindset itself. And how they affect an unaware community.

Historical Replication & the Government pt 1

Historical replication is the act of History repeating itself. African American or Black culture is a culture derived completely off of the lack of a culture. This is something represented entirely by the infamous writings of Willie Lynch, which will be spoke on later. There was no foreknowledge of Black Ancestors or their past endeavors other than slavery when the slaves were freed. As far back as they knew or more precisely what they were allowed to to teach their young according slave masters, their ancestors had always been slaves. Black culture started to build overtime but, based off of the culture of the European descendants of America and the privileges the Black population was allowed. Black culture became about trying to stay out of the slave master’s way and stay alive while trying to “get yours”. A way of living that one hundred and fifty to years later is still being taught to the Black descendants of the slaves, with the present-day American Police and judiciary system falling into the exact role of the slave masters of the past. "Today a criminal freed from prison has scarcely more rights, and arguably less respect, than a freed slave or black person living "free" in Mississippi at the height of Jim Crow." Michelle Alexander stated in her book The New Jim Crow capturing the scene perfectly. Despite technological, societal, and civil advances historical replication is real and American society still has not moved far for the descendants of Africa. A prime example of that is this past year. After a year of discrimination that pales in comparison to the Black Plight in America, the Senate passes a stop Asian hate bill; failing once again to address and redress the Black Community that it has been oppressing almost since the start of its country.

Historical Replication & the Government pt 2

The second variable on the enemy and danger list of Black Unity is the American Government. While this may take on the tone of conspiracy theories, there is actual proof of the government using laws to limit Blacks going back to the times of Jim Crow(Wilson,Nelson,2019). During this time untold and unspeakable crimes were committed against Blacks and the law sided with the whites consistently. In fact, it was not uncommon for the law men to aid the mob’s in lynching Blacks. Laws were used to keep Blacks down discriminating against them in any way possible. Discrimination against Blacks is still legal though covertly according to the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964allowing companies to deny applicants for having locks, a cultural hairstyle worn by their ancestors for thousands of years. This was challenged and upheld as recent as 2016. No other race has the right to be discriminated against solely because of a choice of hairstyle but the Blacks. Slavery is still legal according to the Constitution needing only a slight mistake to be enacted and labeled as a “prison” sentence. The reality of which seems far, except when statistics show that Black are heavily targeted at a higher rate than their white counterparts, a 20% percent higher rate according to The Open Policing Project. This is the reason why Black inmates make up 38.4% of the prison population 19% below the White population of 57.7 percent according to The Federal Bureau of Prisons. Some would say that that is not that bad but, considering the fact that Blacks are only 13.4% of the population when Whites make up 76.3 percent of the total population alone; it is horrible.

Statistics show that crime is actually committed at an even rate amongst both races according to their populations meaning that statistically Blacks should be a far lower percentage of the population. This is evidence of a horrible slope in legal proceedings in law that is deemed okay. Furthermore while some Governmental resistance as conspiracy theories many have failed to actually recognize the existence of theCOINTELPRO initiative that was initially formed as front against communism but was expanded to other local groups, especially up and coming Black Organizations looking to unite the community. J. Edgar Hoover, ex head of the Bureau of Investigation which later became the Federal Bureau of Investigations, is quoted as stating that he wanted “to prevent the rising of any Black Messiah who can call to action the militant Blacks”. The FBI infiltrated and sometimes aided in the crashing every Black order of unity from as early as the early 1900’s, evidence of which can be found in its recently released documents from the organizations vaults. The FBI, a noted Governmental branch, carries with it the full weight and backing of the American Government. When statements like the one J. Edgar Hoover made go unchecked and unrebuked and the evidence in the vaults pile up, it is clear why Black America is weary of the Government, because the Government continues to show it is weary of the rise of Black America. Exactly why this is an enemy of Black Unity leads into the last of the three.

The Black Mindset
Black Unity: Video
Despite Governmental influence and historical replication, or better yet because of it the Black mindset is the last and biggest threat to Black Unity. Meaning that both of these things depict the everyday environments of the Black Community at large, and Black thinking has been preconditioned by these conditions. Living in danger of always being harassed or arrested and you begin to think like an outlaw, not because you want to think this way but because you want to be free. You will either submit your oppressor’s way of thinking or think opposite, history will prove this to be true if you study any people once captured or oppressed. Blacks have it worse because historically speaking, they are the only race to have been enslaved and forced to forget their past and ancestors in an attempting to completely conquer their will and quiet rebellions. They were force fed the Black Codes of the Bible at the point of a whip and taught to fear their masters as the supreme power at the same time while adhering to the Black Codes at law(Foner,2015). The slaves were broken and trained in a similarity to the way animals were, some say according to the Willie Lynchletter. Willie Lynch was according to accounts, a horse trainer who adapted his horse training abilities from training one form of livestock, cows, to another, chattel or slaves. The pamphlet supposedly broke down how to break the Black family apart and turn Blacks against each other. Whether the existence of this man is true or not, this pamphlet broke down the psychiatric residue that would be left behind from the mental separation and trauma done to the slaves. Part of that inhumane training was forcing the Black family unit to realize that it had no power and was at the master’s whim. They were forced to witness horrible atrocities such as the murder, rape, and whippings of man, woman, and child alike. Psychologically ,according to Psychological Principles and the Black Experience by Lawrence N Houston, it imprinted on the Black female that she could no longer look to her man for protection, and it taught the male that he was no good and powerless. This forced assimilation gained power through the principle of divide and conquer. A major component was the use of little differences to turn the slaves against each other; old versus young, tall versus short, fat versus skinny, dark versus light, etc. The “Every man for himself” mindset taught to the Blacks in slavery times was passed on, even after freedom and is this now prevalent in the Black Community today. This mindset is why the Black Community has trouble raising itself as a whole. The Black Community still has issues coming together and anything can be the reason, Black Reality shows exploit this consistently using the “drama” as a ratings boost. However, scripted these shows might be, they are an actual depiction of the drama that goes on in the Black Community. This in accordance with findings in Conceptualizing and Treatment of Trauma and Self-Destructive Behavior: The Individual Psychology Perspective is the direct result of trauma. The current Black mindset is a remnant of slavery and is one of, if not the biggest enemy of Black unity.

Black Unity: Video
The act of Black unity has seemed both reachable and out of reach concurrently at times in history. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X were both notable examples of the possibilities. There was also Noble Drew Ali and Marcus Mosiah Garvey that led large unified movements. But no matter how big these movements became the same three components were always barriers to the mass spreading of their movements: Historical Replication, the American Government, and the Black mindset. If Black unity is to take firm root and survive it must assume a form of fearlessness to be embodied by the masses. Because if history is any example, it is facing skilled hunters on all ends that are ready to tear it down at the first sign of weakness. There are even enemies within and many in the Black Community feel beat down as if they were fighting and endless fight. Many have simply given up. Recent events however are spurring hope, and what is that hope? Help from our fellow Americans on the other side, the White community! The Youth of both the Black and White Communities are beginning to come together and show a disdain for the ways of the White American Forefathers. They are beginning to stand together to challenge the American way of life and tear it down. This is true Black Unity! Contrary to popular belief it is not just all Blacks coming together, it is the unifying of America with the countries least protected minority. And when better to help tear down the system than the progeny of it's builders!
